It’s Thursday and time for another instalment of our Hottie of the Week feature here at Vili Flik. And for the second week in a row, an actor will have the honours. But not just any actor. Gary Oldman is one of the best, most versatile actors of our time. His talents, together with his good looks, make him a natural recipient of the title Hottie of the Week.
Oldman had his breakthrough performance in the 1986 biopic Sid and Nancy, where he played Sid Vicious.
He is best known for his ability to change his whole look as well as his voice, accent and mannerism for each role. These chameleon traits have made him an immensely popular and respected actor. (In spite of this he, like last week’s Hottie Johnny Depp, has never won an Oscar, a very controversial decision.) Let us for a moment bask in the glory of his versatile look:
His fantastic performance in Francis Ford Coppola’s Dracula from 1992:
Old, creepy Dracula…
…and young, sexy Dracula.
The brilliant pimp Drexl Spivey in True Romance (1993):
Scary, crazy bad cop Stansfield in Léon (also known as The Professional) in 1994:
With the mother of all comb-overs as Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg in The Fifth Element (1997):
And lately, as sexy Sirius Black in the Harry Potter-series (2004 -)…
…and commissionaire Jim Gordon in the new Batman-films (2005-)
While Gary Oldman built his career playing edgy and more or less psychotic characters, in later years, his main concern when taking a part is location and time. His first priority is being a good father for his sons and to have time for them (awww…), and this has affected his choice of roles. Bless!
In addition to being an amazing actor, Oldman is a trained pianist, and a writer and director. When you add these talents to his sexy energy and good looks, a Vili Flik Hottie is made! For more information on Gary, go here
